Coalition of Religious Communities - Hunger and Homelessness Weekly Update
At our meeting on Wednesday we will be talking with experts & legislators about how we can support increased housing funding
Last week KSL Television reported (link below) that children are camping outside this month because the homeless shelters in Salt Lake County are out of beds and motel vouchers for families. This story highlights why congregations are collecting diapers for homeless children this month, why it is so important to ensure that everyone has a place indoors to sleep this winter, and why the Utah Legislature needs to sustain efforts begun this year to build the housing needed to end homelessness in Utah.
We are grateful that Tara Rollins from the Utah Housing Coalition, Steve Erickson from Crossroads Urban Center have agreed to meet with us and talk about how we can support serious new investments in housing this legislative session. (It is possible a couple more legislators we will also be joining us). The agenda for the meeting can be found below.
